MyChange Terms & Conditions

Welcome to MyChange. By creating an account or using any MyChange service, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By registering for a MyChange account or using any MyChange service, you agree to:

  • comply with these Terms;
  • comply with our Privacy Policy and other applicable product-specific terms;
  • provide accurate and complete information;
  • use MyChange only for lawful purposes; and
  • comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

If you use MyChange on behalf of a business or another organisation, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. Eligibility

To use MyChange, you must:

  • be at least 18 years old, or meet any other minimum age requirement permitted by applicable Nigerian law;
  • provide accurate and complete information during registration;
  • provide information and documents required for identity verification;
  • maintain only accounts that you are authorised to operate; and
  • comply with applicable laws and regulatory requirements.

We may refuse registration or restrict access where we are unable to complete required verification or where we reasonably believe that an account may be associated with fraud, illegal activity, or other prohibited conduct.

3. Creating and Maintaining Your Account

You may be required to provide information such as your name, phone number, identification details, and other information required to provide our services and comply with applicable requirements.

You are responsible for:

  • keeping your PIN, passwords, authentication information, and other security credentials confidential;
  • ensuring that the information associated with your account remains accurate and up to date;
  • taking reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access to your account; and
  • notifying MyChange promptly if you suspect that your account, PIN, or security credentials have been compromised.

You must not share your PIN or authentication credentials with another person.

Where an account or transaction is compromised because you failed to take reasonable steps to protect your security credentials, you may be responsible for resulting losses to the extent permitted by applicable law.

4. Identity Verification and Facial Verification

To protect our users and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, MyChange may require you to complete identity verification.

Identity verification may include the collection and processing of identification information, photographs, facial images, or other information required to verify your identity.

Where facial or biometric information is processed, MyChange will process such information in accordance with applicable data protection laws and our Privacy Policy.

You agree to provide truthful and accurate information during the verification process and must not attempt to impersonate another person or provide another person's identity information.

We may restrict or suspend access to your account where required verification cannot be completed or where information provided is found to be false, misleading, or inconsistent.

5. MyChange Wallet

Where available to you, your MyChange wallet may allow you to:

  • receive payments;
  • give change to customers;
  • transfer funds;
  • fund your wallet;
  • receive eligible promotional rewards;
  • participate in Keep or other products offered by MyChange; and
  • access other services made available from time to time.

Your wallet balance represents the amount recorded by MyChange as available to you, subject to pending transactions, restrictions, reversals, applicable fees, and other adjustments permitted under these Terms or applicable law.

The treatment of funds held through MyChange, including any applicable safeguarding, settlement, or custody arrangements, will depend on the legal and regulatory structure under which the service is provided.

Unless expressly stated for a particular product, funds in your ordinary MyChange wallet do not earn interest or any other return.

6. Funding Your Wallet

Where wallet funding is available, you may fund your account using the funding methods supported by MyChange.

You are responsible for ensuring that the information provided for a funding transaction is accurate.

A funding transaction may be delayed, declined, reversed, or restricted where:

  • the transaction fails;
  • the relevant financial institution or payment provider rejects the transaction;
  • the transaction is suspected to be fraudulent or unlawful;
  • technical or network issues affect processing; or
  • MyChange is required to do so by law, regulation, or a competent authority.

Where money has been debited from your funding source but is not reflected in your MyChange wallet, you should contact MyChange Support with the relevant transaction details.

7. Giving Change

The Give Change feature allows eligible users to send an amount from their MyChange wallet to another user.

When you initiate a Give Change transaction:

  • You authorise MyChange to debit the specified amount from your wallet;
  • You are responsible for confirming the recipient's details and the amount before authorising the transaction;
  • Transactions may be processed immediately or within the applicable processing period; and
  • Once a transaction has been successfully completed, it may not be reversible at your request except where a reversal is required or permitted under applicable law, regulatory requirements, or MyChange's applicable transaction-resolution procedures.

You should carefully review the recipient's name, user ID, phone number, and amount before confirming a transaction.

8. Transfers

Where transfer services are available, you are responsible for providing accurate recipient and account information.

Before confirming a transfer, you should verify:

  • the recipient's details;
  • the destination account or wallet;
  • the amount; and
  • any other transaction information displayed to you.

MyChange will not be responsible for losses resulting solely from incorrect information supplied or confirmed by you, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Where a transfer is unsuccessful, delayed, duplicated, or incorrectly processed, you should report the issue to MyChange Support as soon as possible.

9. Transaction Errors, Unauthorised Transactions and Disputes

If you believe that:

  • a transaction was made without your authorisation;
  • your account was accessed without your permission;
  • you were charged incorrectly;
  • your wallet was debited but the transaction was unsuccessful;
  • a transaction was duplicated; or
  • there is another error affecting your account,

you must notify MyChange as soon as reasonably possible through the available support channels.

You may be asked to provide information necessary to investigate the transaction, including the transaction reference, date, amount, and other relevant details.

MyChange may investigate reported transactions and may take appropriate corrective action where an error or unauthorised transaction is established, subject to applicable law and regulatory requirements.

10. Fees and Charges

Any applicable fees, charges, limits, or other costs associated with a MyChange service will be disclosed to you before the relevant transaction is completed, where required by applicable law or regulation.

We may introduce or change fees where permitted by law. Where a change materially affects an existing service, we will provide notice in accordance with applicable requirements.

You are responsible for reviewing the applicable fees before completing a transaction.

11. Cashback and Promotional Rewards

From time to time, MyChange may offer cashback, bonuses, discounts, referral rewards, or other promotional benefits.

Promotional rewards:

  • may be subject to eligibility requirements;
  • may apply only to specified transactions or users;
  • may have minimum or maximum limits;
  • may have an expiry date;
  • may not be transferable unless expressly stated;
  • may not be exchangeable for cash unless expressly stated; and
  • may be modified, suspended, or withdrawn where permitted by applicable law.

MyChange may withhold or reverse a promotional reward where it was obtained through fraud, abuse, manipulation, error, or a breach of the applicable promotional terms.

Specific promotions may have additional terms which will apply in addition to these Terms.

12. Keep

Where the Keep feature is available, it will operate according to separate Keep Terms displayed to you before you activate a Keep Plan.

The Keep Terms will specify applicable details such as:

  • the amount or percentage placed into the plan;
  • the plan duration;
  • any applicable increment, bonus, or benefit;
  • the maturity date;
  • withdrawal conditions;
  • early withdrawal or plan-breaking conditions;
  • applicable penalties or forfeiture provisions; and
  • any other material terms applicable to the plan.

You should review and accept the applicable Keep Terms before activating a Keep Plan.

13. Prohibited Activities

You must not use MyChange to:

  • commit or facilitate fraud;
  • launder money or finance illegal activities;
  • impersonate another person;
  • provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information;
  • use another person's account without authorisation;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to MyChange or another user's account;
  • interfere with, disrupt, or damage the MyChange platform;
  • introduce malicious software or code;
  • exploit security vulnerabilities;
  • use MyChange for any unlawful purpose; or
  • engage in any activity that may expose MyChange, its users, or its partners to legal or regulatory risk.

We may investigate suspected violations and take appropriate action.

14. Account Suspension and Restriction

MyChange may suspend, restrict, or temporarily limit your account or particular transactions where reasonably necessary, including where:

  • fraud or suspicious activity is suspected;
  • unauthorised access is suspected;
  • required identity verification has not been completed;
  • information provided by you is inaccurate or misleading;
  • your account is being used in violation of these Terms;
  • we are required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or a competent authority; or
  • such action is necessary to protect you, other users, MyChange, or our service providers.

Where appropriate and legally permitted, we will notify you of the reason for a restriction and any steps required to resolve it.

15. Account Closure and Termination

You may request to close your MyChange account through the available account or support channels.

MyChange may close or terminate an account where permitted under these Terms or applicable law.

Before closing an account, you may be required to:

  • resolve outstanding transactions;
  • complete required verification;
  • settle applicable fees or obligations; and
  • withdraw or otherwise deal with any eligible remaining balance in accordance with applicable procedures.

Account closure does not remove obligations or liabilities that arose before the closure.

We may retain certain information after account closure where required by law, regulation, fraud-prevention requirements, dispute resolution, or legitimate business purposes permitted by applicable law.

16. Service Availability

We aim to keep MyChange available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

Access may be temporarily affected by:

  • maintenance;
  • technical problems;
  • internet or telecommunications failures;
  • banking or payment network failures;
  • failures or delays involving third-party service providers;
  • security incidents;
  • events beyond our reasonable control; or
  • legal or regulatory requirements.

Where reasonably possible, we will take steps to restore affected services as soon as practicable.

17. Third-Party Services

Certain MyChange services may depend on banks, payment processors, switches, identity-verification providers, telecommunications providers, cloud service providers, or other third parties.

Third-party services may be subject to their own terms and policies.

Where a third-party failure affects a MyChange transaction, we will take reasonable steps to investigate and assist with resolution, subject to the applicable arrangements and law.

18. Privacy and Data Protection

MyChange collects and processes personal information to provide its services, verify identities, process transactions, maintain security, prevent fraud, comply with legal and regulatory obligations, and for other purposes described in our Privacy Policy.

Our processing of personal data is governed by applicable Nigerian data protection laws, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and our Privacy Policy.

Our Privacy Policy explains:

  • the categories of personal information we collect;
  • why we collect and use it;
  • the lawful basis for processing;
  • how information may be shared;
  • how long information may be retained;
  • applicable data subject rights;
  • how users can make privacy requests or complaints; and
  • how we protect personal information.

By using MyChange, you acknowledge that you have been provided with our Privacy Policy and understand that your personal information will be processed in accordance with it and applicable law.

19. Intellectual Property

MyChange and its associated software, branding, logos, designs, content, features, and technology are owned by or licensed to MyChange and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may use MyChange only for its intended purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You must not copy, modify, reproduce, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise misuse any part of the MyChange service except where expressly permitted by law or with our written permission.

20. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MyChange will not be responsible for losses arising solely from:

  • your failure to protect your PIN or account credentials;
  • incorrect information supplied or confirmed by you;
  • your failure to follow reasonable security instructions;
  • interruptions caused by your internet or telecommunications provider;
  • failures or delays caused by third-party financial institutions, payment processors, banks, switches, or other service providers;

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.

21. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to be responsible for losses, claims, costs, or expenses reasonably incurred by MyChange as a result of your fraud, unlawful conduct, intentional misuse of the service, or material breach of these Terms.

This clause does not apply to the extent that the relevant loss was caused by MyChange's own unlawful conduct, negligence, or other circumstances for which liability cannot legally be excluded.

22. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our services, technology, legal or regulatory requirements, or business operations.

Where a change is material, we will provide notice through the app, website, email, or another appropriate channel where required.

The updated Terms will indicate the effective date.

Where applicable law requires your express acceptance of material changes, we will obtain that acceptance.

Your continued use of MyChange after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms only to the extent permitted by applicable law.

23. Complaints and Customer Support

These Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Any dispute arising in connection with these Terms will be handled in accordance with applicable Nigerian law and any applicable dispute-resolution or regulatory procedures.

25. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

26. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional product-specific terms presented to you, constitute the agreement between you and MyChange concerning your use of the relevant MyChange services.

Where there is a conflict between these Terms and specific product terms, the specific product terms will apply to the relevant product to the extent of the conflict.
